Celebrating All Things Welsh
Hundreds of people in Cardiff, both young and old, enjoyed Tafwyl, Cardiff’s annual Welsh language Festival, co-ordinated by Menter Caerdydd in partnership with Cardiff Council and all Welsh Language Partners.
The free festival offering a wide variety of social and cultural events was held from the 13 - 26 June.
Tafwyl - - a combination of words Taf (Taff) and gŵyl (festival) in Welsh - kicked off with the Gŵyl Feithrin for all Welsh language nursery groups in Cardiff on the 13 June at St Fagan's National History Museum. The highlight was the ffair Tafwyl on Saturday 25, a fun day for all the family at the Mochyn Du pub.
Activities ranged from circus skills, sports sessions, an opportunity to meet popular children's presenters and characters from S4C's STWNCH, Pobol y Cwm, CYW, Holi Hana and Francis to face painting, arts and crafts and much more.
The aim of Tafwyl is to promote the wide range of Welsh language activities held throughout the year in Cardiff and to raise the profile of the language in the capital.
Siân Lewis, Senior Officer for Menetr Caerdydd, said: "The Welsh Language can open the door to a whole range of exciting activities taking place in Cardiff and Tafwyl is a fantastic way to give people a taste of just some of those activities."
